Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated every year. Are we celebrating in a way that pleases Mahatma?
Hindustan is celebrating 150th Gandhi Jayanti today. We have celebrated Gandhi Jayanti for years, but have we really cared to respect Gandhiji’s ideas?
Today our Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a call to celebrate this day in the right way. Gandhiji always advocated cleanliness and said “Cleanliness is next to Godliness’. But of late, the cities are becoming garbage cities and wherever we see, we encounter garbage left unattended. To make Gandhiji’s dream of clean India a reality, Prime Minister has given a call to all to spare 100 hours per year to clean up India. The ‘Clean India’ campaign is being inaugurated today.
Narendra Modi is starting this campaign at Valmiki Basti. The place is rightly selected as this was the place which housed Gandhiji for about 200 days. Prime Minister and his entire cabinet, all Government servants irrespective of rank are holding brooms to start the campaign. With this initiation we can now expect a clean India in the near future.
We as civilians, living in different places may not be able to participate in the campaign at Delhi. We can still be a part of the campaign by doing whatever we can.
- Stop throwing garbage indiscriminately everywhere.
- Reduce the generation of garbage as far as possible.
- Recycle whatever is possible.
- Teach children about the importance of cleanliness.
- Stop throwing waste, left over etc. at public places.
Mahatma Gandhiji will be really pleased if we can achieve the goal set by Narendra Modi. Come join hands.
