It was a moment of fight between feelings! People felt proud, relieved, happy and tears rolled down, all at the same time! The anguish that was steaming in the minds when we saw the blood smeared face of our hero got converted into tears! Every Indian thanked the Government for their efforts in bringing Abhinandan back.
Nation Prays for the safe return of Abhinandan
Entire nation was praying for his safe return and finally the prayer was answered and the efforts of the Government yielded positive results. Wing Commander Abhinanda Varthaman has etched a script of bravery in the minds of Indians and the world.
Abhinandan was taken hostage by the Pak army when his fighter aircraft MiG21 fell in the Pakistani land while chasing F-16 belonging to Pakistan and he had no choice but to land there with the help of a parachute. Even under such a situation, he tried to run and reach the Indian land. It is said that with a lot of courage he countered the situation and destroyed all the important papers. Despite being in Pak Army custody, he did not reveal information that is not to be revealed. Though death was standing right in front of him, he took courage and acted the way which shall remain an inspiration to every patriot globally.
Abhinandan was received by a team of IAF officials including Air Vice Marshall R.G. Kapoor, Air Vice Marshall Prabhakaran and his proud father Air Marshall S. Varthaman (retired).
Finally India breathed a sigh of relief!
Long live all our brave Soldiers!
