KAHWA
Our country is full of Ayurvedic treasures, out of that treasure I bring to you another glittering gold that is the “KAHWA” or the Kashmiri Kahwa. Don’t mistake it for just another flavoured tea or normal green tea, it is an efficient stimulant with high medicinal properties.
It is an effective respiratory illness medicine. The spices it is infused along with have their own good effect on the human body.
This is something really easy to prepare and can be made with kashmiri green tea leaves or the regular green tea readily available in market.
So let’s begin.
Ingredients for kahwa
4 cups of water
4 tsp kashmiri green tea/green tea powder
4-5 strands of saffron
3-4 cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
4-5 cardamom pods
8 almonds blanched and chopped
2 tbsp of honey
Method for preparing kahwa
Take water in a tea saucepan along with the tea powder and all the spices leaving saffron and almonds.
Simmer the water on low heat to allow all the flavours to infuse in the water.
Continue the same for 10 minutes.
Meanwhile mix the saffron strands with a drop or two of the infused liquid.
Strain the tea in a tea pot and add the saffron and almonds to it.
Sweeten with honey and serve hot.
