Mcleodganj is situated in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. It is a center for all Tibetan activities, mainly because the Dalai Lama made this place his headquarters after his exile in 1959. It is popular among travelers and students who want to learn Buddhism. This place is also referred to as Little Lhasa because of the large number of Tibetans living there.
Apart from the very fine Tibetan learning, Mcleoganj also offers really nice green scenery views, falls, religious places, and some adventure sports like trekking, Para-gliding, etc. Mcleodganj also offers some very fine Tibetan delicacies for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians.
Best time to visit: Many blogs claim that the best time to visit this place is between May and November, but you can visit this place at any day of the year as it offers a different taste in each season. I personally recommend to please avoid the months of May to July first week as it will be overcrowded during this part of the year.
How to reach: The nearest airport is Gaggal Airport (15 km). The nearest railway station is Pathankot (85 km) from Dharamshala. There are many buses which barely charge 10 INR per head to Mcleodganj (6km) and private taxis at around 200 INR.
